Domestic Service Trips

For 2026, we have two week-long domestic service trips, winter break in Louisiana and spring break in Phoenix. Both offer students an opportunity to get away from Providence and experience another part of the country, while carrying out the works of mercy.

Winter Break: St. Martinsville, Louisiana

January 4 to 10

Students participating in the Louisiana service immersion experience will serve with the Saint Teresa Center for Works of Mercy, a ministry committed to living out the Gospel through direct service to those in need. Located in the heart of Louisiana and run by the Community of Jesus Crucified, the Center provides essential support such as food, clothing, and shelter, while also fostering spiritual and emotional healing through compassionate outreach. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, the mission of the Center is to uphold the dignity of every person by responding to both immediate needs and the deeper injustices that contribute to poverty and marginalization. Students participating in this experience are invited into a transformative encounter, where service becomes a pathway to solidarity and deeper faith.

Spring Break: Phoenix

March 7 to 14

Participants in the Phoenix immersion experience will serve with André House, a ministry rooted in the traditions of the Catholic Worker Movement and inspired by Saint André Bissette, dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Located in “The Zone”, André House offers a welcoming space where guests can receive meals, clothing, showers, and compassionate hospitality. The mission emphasizes dignity, community, and justice, inviting volunteers to engage deeply with those on the margins through acts of service and presence. This experience fosters a spirit of solidarity and reflection, encouraging participants to see Christ in each person they encounter.

For both trips, register by noon on Wednesday, November 12. Complete an interview by Thursday, November 20.
