The Pre-College Business Experience

Providence College invites students to explore the world of business education through its immersive Pre-College Business Program. From July 11-15, 2027, participants will live on campus while engaging in simulations, case studies, and faculty-led experiences that introduce the foundations of accounting, marketing, finance, and organizational leadership.

The program situates business education within the broader context of a Catholic liberal arts university. Students will examine the opportunities and responsibilities of leadership and explore how business can contribute to the common good. Itinerary Snapshot

No two days look the same, but here is a feel for the rhythm

Morning Liberal Arts Seminars

The day starts with breakfast and moves into the academic heart of PC: a faculty-led seminar from our renowned Development of Western Civilization (CIV) program. These sessions take a classic text and explore perennial questions you’re actually asking right now: Where am I going? What am I really looking for? Why does any of this matter?

These sessions will ask questions central to business education on topics such as ethics, the history and foundations of markets, and the uses of technology. More than a dry lecture, you’ll be joined by undergraduate student leaders for a vital, engaging experience of PC’s core curriculum.

Afternoon Business Education

Afternoons shift the focus to exploring business education in a 21st century world. You’ll be headquartered in the Ryan Center for Business and will be led by PC business faculty through hands-on experiential learning engagements in multiple fields as you explore bringing a product to market. This is your opportunity to have a real-life encounter with what it means to study business and to explore the many career paths it offers.

Evenings in Friartown

As the days wind down, we’ll explore all that Rhode Island has to offer: the city of Providence, local beaches, and a night in Newport. When back on campus, the evenings are for community. You’ll have time with peers and current undergraduate students, including a leader panel where current Friars open up about their own college searches and what life at PC is really like. Throughout the week, you’ll encounter Providence College as it truly is, a Catholic and Dominican community that believes your college search is, ultimately, a search for God’s Providence in your life. You’ll meet our Dominican friars and be invited into vibrant opportunities for prayer and reflection.

Costs of Participating

The program fee will be made available with the application later this fall. This fee includes lodging, all meals, programming, and excursions. It also includes designated PC shuttles to and from TF Green International Airport (RI) and Boston Logan International Airport (approximately 50 minutes from Providence College) for participants who will be traveling by airplane. Airfare is not included, but travel scholarship support is available to help offset participant transportation costs.

Live on Campus

Participants will experience the full on-campus experience in one of our premiere suites-style residence halls. Separated by gender, students will have overnight supervision by a professional staff hall director, undergraduate resident assistants, and professional security care. While linens will be covered, participants will be expected to bring toiletries and any other essentials they might need.

Meals

Most meals will take place in Raymond Hall Cafeteria (known on campus as ‘Ray’), PC’s primary dining facility for undergraduate students. Ray offers global meal choices paired with sensitivity to all food allergies. Participants will also sample classic Rhode Island dishes while exploring the region on excursions.

Program Leaders

The Pre-College Summer Program is operated by full-time Providence College staff members and dedicated undergraduates who have been hired specifically to chaperone. Participants will be chaperoned by full-time staff and undergraduate students at all times.

Important to the experience is exposure to a wide-array of PC community members. Participants will meet with administrators, faculty members, and Dominican friars who will impart guidance, wisdom, and transformative learning opportunities.

Eligibility

Providence College Pre-College Programs are open to high school students 15 years of age and older. The Business track is aimed for rising high school seniors, but rising high school juniors will be considered. Participants must be able to engage respectfully in a residential college environment and fully participate in scheduled program activities.

Attendance & Participation

The Pre-College Programs are immersive residential experiences. Participants are expected to attend all academic sessions, workshops, community activities, excursions, and evening programs unless excused by program staff.

Residential Life & Supervision

Participants reside in Providence College residence halls and are supervised by trained student leaders and professional staff throughout the duration of the program.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, students must comply with residence hall policies, curfews, sign-in procedures, and staff directives.

Code of Conduct

Providence College seeks to cultivate a community rooted in respect, responsibility, and integrity. Participants are expected to:

– Treat fellow students, staff, faculty, and guests with respect.
– Contribute positively to the program community.
– Respect College property and facilities.
– Follow all College policies and program expectations.
– Conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the values of Providence College.

Behavior that compromises the safety, dignity, or well-being of others may result in dismissal from the program without refund.

Health & Medical Information

All participants must complete required health and emergency contact forms before arrival.

Participants who require prescription medications, accommodations, dietary adjustments, or other support services should notify program staff during the registration process so appropriate arrangements can be made whenever possible.

Transportation

Program fees include designated shuttle transportation to and from T.F. Green International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport at published arrival and departure times.

Participants arriving outside of scheduled transportation windows may be responsible for arranging their own transportation.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Participants who withdraw before the program start date may be eligible for a partial refund based on the published cancellation schedule.

Once the program has begun, refunds cannot be provided for voluntary withdrawal, dismissal, illness, travel disruptions, or unused portions of the program.
