Discover Providence: Nursing
The Pre-College Nursing Experience
Providence College invites applications for its immersive Pre-College Nursing Program, a four-night residential experience introducing students to life at one of the nation’s premier Catholic liberal arts colleges and its nationally-recognized School of Nursing & Health Sciences. Taking place July 11-15, 2027, the program is designed for rising high school seniors (rising juniors are also welcome to apply) and combines hands-on simulation experiences with an exploration of the knowledge, compassion, ethics, and critical thinking that define excellence in healthcare.
Participants will train in state-of-the-art nursing simulation labs, engage with faculty and student mentors, and discover how a liberal arts education prepares healthcare professionals to care not only for patients, but for the whole human person. Participants will also explore the college admissions process and receive dedicated time with our Admissions team. Come discover God’s plan for your life. Come discover Providence.
Itinerary Snapshot
No two days look the same, but here is a feel for the rhythm
Morning Liberal Arts Education
The day starts with breakfast and moves into the academic heart of PC: a faculty-led seminar from our renowned Development of Western Civilization (CIV) program. These sessions take a classic text and explore perennial questions you’re actually asking right now: Where am I going? What am I really looking for? Why does any of this matter?
These will ask questions central to nursing education on topics such as ethics, care for the human person, and the uses of technology. You’ll be joined by undergraduate student leaders for a vital, engaging experience of PC’s core curriculum.

Afternoon Nursing & Simulation
Afternoons shift the focus to exploring the field of nursing in the Ben Mondor Center for Nursing & Health Sciences. You’ll be led by PC nursing faculty and simulation lab staff through hands-on experiential learning engagements with the variety of nursing fields. This is your opportunity to have a real-life encounter with what it means to study nursing and to explore the many career paths it offers.
Evenings in Friartown
As the days wind down, we’ll explore all that Rhode Island has to offer: the city of Providence, local beaches, and a night in Newport. When back on campus, the evenings are for community. You’ll have time with peers and current undergraduate students, including a leader panel where current Friars open up about their own college searches and what life at PC is really like. Throughout the week, you’ll encounter Providence College as it truly is, a Catholic and Dominican community that believes your college search is, ultimately, a search for God’s Providence in your life. You’ll meet our Dominican friars and be invited into vibrant opportunities for prayer and reflection.
